Playground Project Plan
Currently there is no safe community area in Ubud in which our children can meet to play. Ubud is in dire need of a comfortable public meeting place, which can accommodate the needs of its growing population.
We are raising money through yearly Earth Day Festivals.
So far we have raised Rp 88,000,000. We are in the process of acquiring land by donation or yearly rental. We are also in the process of researching and purchasing a variety of wood apparatus for Earth Day 2008.
Playground and Recreational Facilities
The recreational facility will receive top priority in our project. We will ask several of our renowned local artists, both Indonesian and Western, to design and execute several pieces to give our park a signature style. We will build a playground suitable for all ages, one that will hold the interest of the children as they grow older, made of good quality, long-lasting, low-maintenance materials.
At this time we envision the Playground as being free to all. The Playground will be open daily. The Playground will be surrounded by gardens and be located next to a swimming pool. It will include:
• Swings (low swings, high swings, rows of swings) • At least two shies in two different sizes • Wooden climbing houses with ropes and poles to slide • Teeter-Totters • Monkey Bars • Barrel Roll • Running area for children • Bike / Skate ramp or rink • Dense tree cover • Benches / Traditional Balinese pavilions • Day Care Centre
Long Term Plan The Art Center
The Art Center aims to be a long term self-sustaining profit earning project. Community support for the project has been impressive, with record attendance levels of nearly 1000 people at last year’s Earth Day fund raising event. Another indicator of the projects positive potential has been the many parents, artists, businesses and other local benefactors who have contributed their time, money and energy to help to realize this project up until now.
The Art Center will provide a stimulating creative environment for children and adults to learn with accomplished artists on a regular basis. The Art Center will be a hub for ongoing Indonesian and Western art workshops, classes and courses including: • Art classes. taught by local and international artists for children and adults • Traditional dance and drama from all over the Archipelago taught by international professional artists • Crafts classes: pottery, ceramics, wood and stone carving • Children’s choir • Singing classes • Environmental awareness workshops • Theater group for young adults & children • Music lessons: piano, violin, guitar, band, and more • Gymnastics • Martial arts • Teen meeting space: billiards/darts and other age appropriate games • Outdoor Theatre space • Language classes • Reading groups and special interest workshops
Center Point Community Space
This facility will be a gathering point for the environmental & humanitarian NGO-groups located in Indonesia. This is a free space open to the public.
The Exhibition Hal will house the Center-Point-Gallery, bated at the Center entrance. This gallery will provide an exhibition space so that environmental & humanitarian organizations can display their information, exchange information about upcoming events and locate volunteers. Center point will offer monthly seminars and workshops aimed at offering the community and social networks of Bali information on protecting their immediate environment Each month the Center will host one of the NGO organizations offering weekly evening events so that the NGO can exhibit their information, shown films, host talks, use the opportunity to do fundraising or recruit new volunteers. The basic idea of the program is to help the community to become more familiar with what’s being done by local and national Yayasans and how one can get involved. |
